Don’t let the size of this place fool you—Rukdiew Cafe may be small and unassuming, but it’s a total hidden gem and absolutely worth the hype! It has that classic hole-in-the-wall charm, but it’s highly recommended to make reservations—and after visiting, I totally get why. The food is incredibly authentic Thai cuisine, but with fun, unexpected twists that make the dishes stand out. One of the highlights for us was the crab wontons—packed with flavor and a surprise kick of curry! Every dish we tried had that perfect balance of bold spices, freshness, and creativity. The decor is delightfully quirky and original, with playful items hanging from the ceiling that made the whole experience feel extra special. And just when we thought it couldn’t get more fun, we spotted a cotton candy machine by the exit—yes, you can grab a puff of cotton candy on your way out! Service was top-notch—fast, friendly, and genuinely warm. We felt welcomed from the moment we walked in. Bonus points for the easy street parking, which made getting there a breeze. If you’re in Portland and looking for something authentic, flavorful, and just plain fun, Rukdiew Cafe is a must-visit. We had a blast and can’t wait to come back!

This restaurant was awesome, we will be back again soon to try other dishes as well. We had the spring rolls, pad see ew, and khao soi, with jasmine tea.

Super fun restaurant with a great atmosphere, amazing food, inviting decor, and free cotton candy machine. I highly recommend the Khao Soi, it's unlike any curry I have tasted. The crunchy noodles complimented it as well and added a nice texture. They don't skip on the meat proportions either. I would definitely go back!

Cute and whimsical interior but watch your head, some of the decorations hang a bit low! Food was well prepared, tasty and priced right. The cheese foam Thai tea was very nice. Good service and clean inside.

Love this place. The food is incredible. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The cocktails are awesome! We try to go a couple times a month. Try the Khao Soi and the Mango Paradise, and the Sticky Rice with Mango for dessert.

Very cute place. We ordered Trout Pad Thai and Guay Tiew Tom Yum. Pad Thai was on a sweeter style reminded us with Corvallis Tarntip's Pad Thai (our college day). The trout was really nice but we feel like the fish was a separate dish. We will try the soft shell crabs in the future. Guay Tiew was really good, especially during cold season. It had a good amount of Tom Yum sourness. I wish they would provide more soup. Overall, it was a good lunch place. We have not tried the dinner menu. Fast and great service.

Yummy food & cocktails. So eclectically decorated. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The trout fried rice and soft shell crab pad thai were top tier. They bring a nice assortment of sauces and topping to the table too. Cocktails were great and not too sweet. Would definitely come back here!
